“There is money in tech.” How often do you hear that? I read about what’s going on in the tech world globally and that line is always there in different ways. Of course there’s money in tech. Who doesn’t know that by now?
But getting a job in tech isn’t as easy as saying “there’s money in tech”. It is day and night learning and later hunting round the clock on digital platforms including the social media.
It is day and night writing cover letters and going through your resume over and over again. It is you probably going out to do some other job in order to consistently afford data and continue the tech hunting.
People just talk about the money and the fresh apartments they got from working remotely or in-person doing a tech job, but not the burn outs. Burn out can be avoided though because your mental health is very important to your success. Taking breaks is not a bad idea.
But getting there requires consistency, discipline and the willpower to not give up. Did I mentioned that passion is a huge deal?
I don’t think I did. It’s really about having passion for whatsoever you intend to do with life. Because that’s exactly what’s happening—you doing something with your life. It’s more than a job for people who are passionate about what it is they do. With tech, comes an opportunity to solve problems and add value. As content writer, you’re doing more than words. You’re building a company. You’re an entrepreneur each time you write a copy. It’s that big if you can see the whole picture.
Once there’s passion, there’s nothing that cannot be learnt not even rocket science. Tech is teching over and learning one or two about what can help you foot the bills looking at the swingling economy on a global level isn’t a bad idea.
Here are 15 skills you can study and hopefully land a great job in tech. And don’t worry, it has nothing to do with coding:
