EPL – “Mother-of -all battles” this weekend as Man U, Leicester, Chelsea struggle for Champions league slot
The battle for Champions League qualification in the premiership could never have been tighter as Manchester United, Leicester City and Chelsea head for a final day showdown to determine which two teams join Liverpool and Manchester City in the money spinning Champions league next season.
Leicester City will host Manchester United in a winner-takes-all Premier League match on Sunday, while Chelsea will host irrepressible Wolves on the same day. It will indeed be the final-day showdown for two Champions League slot.
Before the COVID 19 lockdown, Leicester had looked cut out for a top-four finish . But a terrible run of results has left them fifth in the table now with one game left.
On the other hand, the Red Devils went on a tremendous run since the restart to leave themselves just one result away from a top-four or even top-three finish. But they must do the tough one- avoid defeat at the King Power Stadium – or lose and hope Chelsea also fall to Wolves.
All the matches are scheduled for a 4pm BST kick-off on Sunday, July 26, 2020 and millions of African supporters of the three clubs will be deep in prayers.
The matches will be played behind closed doors with no fans due to be present due to government guidelines regarding coronavirus. But nothing will remove the intensity, tension, anxiety and most likely the excitement these matches will generate in the world of football.
How the EPL top four race looks as every goal on Sunday will matter
