Top Nigerian journalist, 40 others nominated as ambassador by President Buhari
Editor-in-chief of a top Nigerian daily newspaper,The Guardian, Debo Adesina, is among 41 non-career people nominated as ambassadors by Nigeria’s President, Muhammad Buhari.
Adesina was mentioned as one of the two ambassadorial nominees from Oyo State. The other Oyo nominee is Ms Folakemi Akinyele.
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, who read out the names as contained in the list submitted to the Senate by the President for confirmation yesterday also read out 40 other names .
Other nominees are Eng. Umar Suleiman, Mandama (Adamawa) Oboro Emong Akpablo (Akwa Ibom), Chief Elejah Onyeagba (Anambra), Abubakar D. Ibrahim Sryi( Bauchi), Philip K lkumsi (Bayelsa).
Others include Hon. Arzoor Terhemen Paul Oga Adlkwu (Benue) and Ibrahim Al-Hussain (Borno).
President Buhari, in his letter, stated that “in accordance to section 171 (1), (2)(c) and sub-section (4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate the underIisted fort-one (41) names of nominees as Non-Career ambassadors-designate.”He equally sought accelerated consideration of the nominees.(m.guardian.ng)
