Africa: Covid-19 cases across continent near 1.25 Million

As of August 31, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 55 African countries have reached 1,245,439. Reported deaths in Africa have reached 29,586 and recoveries 976,151. South Africa has the most reported cases – 625,056, with deaths numbering 14,028. Other most-affected countries include Egypt (98,727 cases), Morocco (61,399), Nigeria (53,865), Ethiopia (51,122), and Ghana (44,205).
The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.  On  AllAfrica clickable map is a list of per-country numbers.
