Following their 8-2 Champions League embarrassing defeat to Bayern Munich last Friday, Barcelona is targeting to pick either Mauricio Pochettino or one of the four other top managers to take over as chief coach for the net season.
It is almost certain that Quique Setien is set to lose his job at the Nou Camp in the aftermath of the humiliating defeat that has left Barcelona without a trophy this season for the first time since the 2013/2014 season.
Barcelona went into the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich as underdogs, having struggled under both Setien and Ernesto Valverde throughout the course of the season. Despite this, nobody had imagined the level Barcelona would be ruthlessly dispatched by Bayern,
UK Express has listed Pochettino as one of five names on Barcelona’s radar as they look to rebuild in the wake of their humiliating European exit. The former Tottenham boss supposedly has the backing of Lionel Messi to take charge
Barca legend Xavi who is currently coaching Al Sadd over in Qatar is also on the list. He was actually Barcelona’s first choice to replace Valverde when the Spaniard was sacked in January but Setien, due to the fact he was willing to take over immediately, got the job instead.
Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman, who had a successful spell at the Nou Camp during his playing days, is another candidate for the job.
Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has also been earmarked, with the Italian out of work since leaving the Old Lady 12 months ago.
Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, currently coaching Montreal Impact in the MLS, is also a surprise contender for the Barcelona job.
