The senior pastor of High Impact Christian Centre, Sapele, Delta State
is dead. He was reported to have suffered Coronavirus complications,
which was not managed properly, hence leading to the immediate seal of
the clinic where he underwent treatment.
Vanguard reports that the sick pastor was brought in to a private
hospital in Warri after he took ill on Thursday, he was later referred
to another hospital in Sapele. He was admitted in the hospital and
secretly managed against COVID-19 rules of bring such patients to an
Isolation centre with the knowledge of NCDC. He however lost his life
on Monday night.
The Delta State Minister of Health, Epidemiology inspection/monitoring
of health facilities, Dr Richard Ikwuogu, arrived the hospital
premises to commiserate with the deceased’s family that were available
and also find out the true situation of things. Doubling as the
Incident Manager of Covid-19 in the state, he realized that two
patients were already undergoing treatments for Covid-19 which is
against the law, hence ordered the immediate closure of the hospital
till further notice.
According to a source who craved anonymity, An Ambulance conveying the
remains of the diseased faced harassments from suspected family
members who took away his body. “They attacked the ambulance that
came to remove the corpse, threatening to burn it, maybe they were
angry that the health status of their brother was revealed. The driver
escaped with the ambulance and as I speak to you arrangements are
currently on going with the security agencies to send the team back,”
he said.
