Nigerian Senate has called on President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to address the nation immediately on the current nationwide protests by youths against police brutality and bad governance.
The Senate also directed the police to offer protection to the #EndSARS protesters to prevent hoodlums from hijacking their genuine action.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has stated that he will not sign the 2021 Appropriation Bill presently before the National Assembly if provisions are not made for the compensation of the families of victims of police brutality in the last decade in Nigeria.
He also said he would not sign the budget if the agreement between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government is not captured by the budget.
Both the Speaker of the House and President of the Senate sign bills passed by the National Assembly before they are transmitted to the President for assent.
