
Hours after removing and banishing Muhammadu Sanusi, the former Emir of Kano in Northern Nigeria, Kano State governor, Umaru Ganduje has announced Aminu Ado Bayero as the new emir of Kano.
Announcing the new emir of Kano, secretary to the state government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji disclosed that the new appointment was in consonant with section 11 subsection 1 of deposition laws of 1999 as amended which empowers Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to do so.
The SSG noted that the final choice of Aminu as new emir was based on the recommendation of Kano Kingmakers who had earlier submitted a list of potential replacement of former emir Sanusi.
Meanwhile, the dethroned emir, Sanusi has been vacated from the palace amidst heavy security guard.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero was born in 1963 in Kano.
He attended Gidan Makama Primary School located near the Gidan Makama National Museum in Kano metropolis, after which he went to Gwale Secondary school.
Aminu Ado Bayero has held different traditional titles in the last three decades. In 1990, he was appointed Danmajen Kano; later he became Danburan Kano, then Turakin Kano to Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida and finally to Wamban Kano and District Head of Dala.
He was appointed Emir of Bichi, one of the Emirates that Governor Abdullahi Uma Ganduje created in April 2019 after he fell out with the deposed Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi ll.
He is a graduate of Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano. He did his one-year National Youths Corps Service programme at NTA Makurdi, Benue State.
He trained as a pilot in the United States of America and became one of the pioneer pilots of the defunct Kabo Air.
