Officials of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja  on Sunday sealed Jabi Lake Mall, venue of last weekend’s ” drive-in” Naira Marley concert for violating government’s ban on large gatherings. The closure would last for two weeks in line with the decision of a mobile court that tried the managers of Jabi lake Mall

It was all over the social media that hip-hop artiste, Azeez Fashola, alias Naira Marley, land in Abuja with a private jet and  performed in a concert at the mall on Saturday against the guidelines of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19  set up as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus.

The concert was slated for Saturday night and was intended to be a drive-by concert was hosted specifically by former Big Brother Naija contestant, Kim Oprah andNaira Marley was invited to perform. The concert was reported to have been put together by Play Network Africa, Traffic Bar, El’Carnival and sponsored by Glenfiddich.

In spite of the claims that it was a drive-by concert, it sparked alarm as the concert video that made way to the internet, showed people in clusters and without protection such as facemasks

Naira Marley is no stranger to COVID 19 problems.  Few weeks ago,The musician was arraigned in court by the Lagos State Government in April for attending a house party organised for a popular nollywood star, Funke Akindele despite the restriction on movement and gatherings.

The government, however, withdrew the case while the artiste wrote a letter of apology to the state government.
