The Dan David Prize is known to be the largest history prize in the world with over N130m financial reward ($300,000).
Nigerian born Prof Saheed Aderinto, a Professor of History and African Diaspora Studies at Florida International University, won the 2023 Dan David Prize becoming the first Nigerian to receive the prestigious prize.
He was recognized for his outstanding scholarship and excellence in the historical discipline in the world. As the Founding President of the Lagos Studies Association and award-winning author, Prof. Saheed continues to unveil Africa through his works.

Born in Ibadan, Southwest of Nigeria, Saheed completed his elementary education in 1990 and BA in History in 2004 from the University of Ibadan popularly called UI before moving to the United States to not just further his education but to tell a different story, the true story of Africa.
