Former Cameroon star, Samuel Eto’o is contesting for Cameroon football federation (Fecafoot) president which he announced via social media on Tuesday.
“Out of love for Cameroon and passion for our football. Time is running out. Waiting is not an option. It is time to rebuild our football,” he posted.
The elections for Fecafoot president was previously delayed but moving forward the elections will take place on 11 December before Africa Cup of Nations kicks-off in Cameroon on 9 January 2022. The legend contributed to Cameroon winning the tournament in 2000 and 2002 following his debut for the national team at 15 🙂
Fecafoot is yet to announce its eligible candidates for president. But 40-years-old Samuel Eto’o remains a man with a great record for his country and the world as a whole.
He played 118 games for Cameroon scoring 56 goals making him the all time scorer for the country. He is a four-time African Player of the Year and claimed third place as Barcelona legend at the 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year with Ronaldinho (winner), and Frank Lampard (second place) on stage.
Candidates will be announced in due time for the elections to proceed as Samuel Eto’o hopes to be last man standing at the podium.
