Now that Starlink is available for use, I can say that the installation is not rocket science.
All thanks to an aerospace manufacturer and space transportation services company, SpaceX, founded by South African born and self-made billionaire Elon Musk, for such an internet speed—I mean 250 megabytes per second (250mbps).
Don’t sleep on it. This is the speed train you want to catch. Here’s the 7 simple ways to install Starlink and possibly fly to Mars:
Before we get going, let’s talk a little bit about Starlink and SpaceX. Now, this is rocket science but I’ll do my best to make the trip smooth as the body of Tesla.
Starlink
Starlink is a satellite internet network created by SpaceX.
A quick one on SpaceX and its founder:
SpaceX is an aerospace manufacturer and space transportation services company founded by Elon Musk. The company designs, manufactures, and launches rockets, spacecraft, satellites, and reusable rockets for government and commercial customers. SpaceX is also leading development of the starship super-heavy launch system which could eventually take people to Mars. Elon Musk is an inventor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who is the CEO of both SpaceX and Tesla. He is also a leader in the development of renewable energy and the exploration of space.
Now back to Starlink:
The network aims to bring high-speed, affordable internet to people around the world. By launching thousands of low-orbit satellites into space, Starlink is able to blanket the entire globe with internet coverage. The satellites communicate with each other and with ground stations, sending internet signals to customers directly. With high speed, reliable connection, and global availability, Starlink is bringing internet access to people all over the world.
And yes! Starlink is available in several African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and now Nigeria as SpaceX recently announced. The coverage area and availability may vary depending on the country.
Starlink is estimated to be up to 100 times faster than current speeds. The total speeds depend on various factors such as location and the number of users on the network. In addition, SpaceX is continually deploying new satellites to the network which should improve speeds even further in the future.
How To Install Starlink In 7 Simple Ways
- Purchase a Starlink kit from the official website
Here’s how you do it:
The Starlink kit can be purchased from the official website by creating an account and placing an order. After ordering the kit, it will be sent to your specified address, which you will have to provide when placing the order. You may also need to provide payment information when placing the order. Once the kit is delivered, you can start installing Starlink.
- Connect the included mounting plate to the roof or wall
- Assemble the dish and assemble the upright pole
- Secure the satellite dish to the mounting plate
- Connect the power cable and ethernet cable to the router and Starlink modem
- Install the Starlink app on your phone or tablet
- Follow the instructions in the app to activate your Starlink account
