Idrissa Akuna Elba popularly known as Idris Elba is an actor, producer, rapper, singer, and a disc jockey from Sierra Leone. It’s all in one.
You might think he is so occupied with sets, and probably wouldn’t have the time to write lyrics and play music for a large crowd. But it seems no matter how busy he might be, the movie star carves out time to entertain people—DJ-ing, and dropping bars in music videos.
You’d probably remember one of his biggest movies, Beasts Of No Nation back in 2015. The movie also brought Ghanaian teenager Abraham Attah into the spotlight. Beasts Of No Nation as a movie told a deep story about a civil war in an unknown West African country and how leaders of rebellious groups recruit children turning them into soldiers.
Idris Elba has recently been frequenting Ghana. He was at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to celebrate Akwasidae Festival this year and also paid homage to the Asantehene—Otumfuo Osei Tutu (the second).
During his recent visit, the Beast Of No Nation star announced his plans to build a film studio in Ghana called the West African Studios.
He told the president in a meeting of his plans to attract filmmakers to the country and West Africa in general.
He also made mention of shooting a new movie in Ghana by December.
